College Advice From The Pros Who Know
At college, the pressure is on like nothing you have experienced thus far! Try to keep it all in perspective and keep your focus on graduation. Your success in college is dependent on your dedication and persistence and a willingness to go the whole nine yards. The following article has some good advice to help you get there.
Don't try to do everything in one semester. It's easy to be an overachiever when there's so much to do and everything's new. You will burn out quickly if you try to take the maximum number of credits and join every campus activity that sounds interesting. Take a reasonable number of credits and try one or two activities your first semester.
Where you sit can play a role in your class experience. Instead of sitting in the back, try coming to class early and sitting up front. You will feel more like a part of the class, and you will have an easier time asking questions.
Get your sleep! Many college students get little, if any, sleep between late night parties, classes and homework. Not getting enough rest can really have a negative impact on your whole college experience.
It's important to get familiar with the teachers you have when you start your classes. Be sure that you know where their offices are and how you can easily get a hold of them. Build a strong repertoire with them to achieve a better understanding if an issue like turning in something late or having something come up.
Exercise
Get up early to start your day off right. You don't have to wake up at 5 in the morning, but waking up around 7 will get you a good start to the day if classes start at 9.
If you are in class and find yourself bored out of your mind, do yourself a favor and stay until it ends. Often times college kids exercise their right to leave whenever they want but you never know when you will miss some truly important information. So make sure to attend every class in its entirety.
Get serious about exercise. Exercise is something that many students don't get enough of. Because weight gain is so normal in college freshmen especially, you have to make the time to get a small workout in so you can stay slim and fit. Think about jogging or using the campus pool to do your workouts.
Nutrition
Every freshman should understand and realize that the freshman 15 does in fact exist. It is important that everyone take the necessary steps to ensure that they are getting proper nutrition during their first year in college. While it might be tempting to pile on some fries for dinner every night, you'll pay for it in the long run.
College is too important not to give it your all, no matter what you face throughout your collegiate career.
